Filtration Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 4250 words

Filtration - Term Paper Example There are a few strategies through which the filtrate actuated may move through the channel medium. This might be by gravity (hydrostatic head), pressure being applied upstream of the channel medium, decreased weight or vacuum being applied downstream the channel medium or through diffusive sedimentation. (b) Filtration instrument This might be through cake or explaining filtration. Cake filtration is the point at which the strong gets halted at the outside of the channel medium where it heaps upon each other to frame a cake. Otherwise called profundity or channel medium filtration, explaining filtration is the point at which the solids get caught inside the pores of the channel medium. (c) By objective The target of the filtration procedure might be either dry solids or explained fluid or both. The filtration procedure might be either irregular or consistent. When grouping channels, they are first partitioned into either cake or explaining channels. They are then arranged relying up on the main impetus and afterward at long last into either clump or ceaseless classes. Persistent filtration testing and scale up In constant filtration, it is first expected that the opposition of both the channel fabric and the channel seepage is inconsequential when contrasted with the obstruction of the channel cake. It is likewise expected that both explicit cake opposition and weight drop stay consistent all through the filtration procedure. ... Cake release A functional channel application is one which delivers a cake that is sufficiently thick to release. There are least satisfactory cake thicknesses that are required for release for different sorts of filtration frameworks and release instruments. Consequently, when running little scope tests, the experimenter ought to choose ahead of schedule during the test program the pertinent kind of release afterward tailor the information gathered such that it will fit the physical necessities of that unit type. Feed slurry temperature An expansion in the feed slurry temperature diminishes the thickness of the fluid stage. 6 Simple Tips for Writing an Amazing Fight Scene

6 Simple Tips for Writing an Amazing Fight Scene If youve reached the point of writing a big fight scene in your novel and are struggling, dont worry. Thats just your intuition as a writer telling you to take a minute and really think about what you want to do here.Conflict in literature isnt just a plot pointâ€"its a vehicle to move a story forward, to reveal important character traits, and eventually, to achieve catharsis at the end. Knowing this, when its time to write a scene involving major conflict, particularly a fight scene, its important to take a minute to step back and evaluate what needs to happen with that scene to make it effective. And beyond effectiveâ€"you need to take a step back to consider what needs to happen to make it memorable. What makes a memorable fightAnyone who has ever read the fight scene between Inigo Montoya and Westly in William Goldings The Princess Bride has read one of the most memorable fight scenes in literature. The man in black stood. You seem a decent fellow, Inigo said. I hate to kill you.You seem a decent fellow, answered the man in black. I hate to die.But one of us must, Inigo said. Begin. And so saying he took the six-fingered sword. And put it into his left hand.William Goldings The Princess BrideWhat follows is a series of specialized sword attacks and subtleties that, across approximately seven pages, is one of the most memorable fight scenes of modern literature. And since Golding wrote the screenplay to the movie adaptation of the book, its just as good on film.Obviously, writing a fight scene can be one of the most intimidating parts of your story to write. So, lets look at a few tips for making your fight scene memorable.1. Make it more than just a fightYour fight scene should, above all else, be a moment when your protagonist confronts the antagonist (or minor henchmen/bad guys) and reveals important information about them both. As youll notice in the scene from The Princess Bride, the dialogue that occurs between the two characters is a kind of meta, fairytal e-esque example of what makes all memorable fight scenes stand out from the rest.Consider the final fight between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back. The famous No, I am your father line not only changed the protagonistâ€"it revealed something startling about the antagonist, thus developing both characters significantly within fight dialogue.2. Choose a great settingThe fight scenes in The Princess Bride and The Empire Strikes Back have something else in commonâ€"they both take place in great settings. This tip is a little tricky because in addition to choosing a great setting, you have to avoid too much description of the setting while the fight is taking place. Too much description not only slows the pace (which is usually the last thing you want to do when a confrontation is taking place), but it detracts the readers attention from the character development that needs to happen.Youll notice in both The Princess Bride and The Empire Strikes Back, we see the s etting of the epic fight scenes before the actual fights take place. This gave the writer (and director) time to reveal details about the great location that would soon be the setting of the upcoming fight scene.3. Dont over-describe movementsIn the same sense that using the fight scene to write a lot of setting description will slow down the action, over describing the fight itself will have the same effect. Instead of doing this, use as many action words (verbs) as possible while keeping descriptive words (adjectives and adverbs) minimal.Youll also want to avoid giving your readers a blow-by-blow account of every moment in the fight. Keep in mind these simple rulesâ€"make it powerful and quick, choosing emotion over extensive setting or movement description. Let your reader fill in some of these details in their own imaginations and it will keep the pace of your fight scene on track.4. Include emotion and dialogueYour first impression when reading that heading might be, but wait, wont emotion and dialogue slow the pace during fight scenes? Again, think back to the pivotal fight between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker when Vader finally admits that Luke is his son. Think about the pauses for effect and how dialogueâ€"in small dosesâ€"increased the tension during the fight in ways that only emotional dialogue can.As for emotion, dont falsely assume that the only way to show emotion is to describe it. Here is a moment when it is even more important than ever to show, dont tell, when you write. Think about the ways your characters can show their emotions through physical responseâ€"heart pounding, blood racing, grip tightening responses.5. Be realisticWith the almost meta moments happening throughout Goldings novel, realism wasnt his goal. We all know that in the real world, two opponents wouldnt carry on such witty banter as they try to win against the other. However, unless youre writing a Golding-esque Fantasy with elements of satire, keep your fight scenes as realistic as possible to keep your readers turning pages. Here are a few ways to ensure that your fight scenes are written as realistically as possible:Research the weapons your characters would most likely be using based on their job/role. If youre going to be using sophisticated weaponry or black-market technology, make sure you know it well by doing as much research as possible. While you dont want to go overboard on descriptions of these weapons or hi-tech gadgets, realistically mentioning them during the scene will make your fight more believable.Avoid over-use of dialogue and make sure that what is said has a purpose of either advancing the plot forward or revealing important character traits.Dont allow your character to have superhuman traits (unless its a superhero story), such as fighting off 12 guys at once or dodging bullets. This kind of unrealistic fighting should only take place when characterization requires it, such as stories of people with superhuman strength or sc ience fiction, in which an alternate universe or setting allows the laws of physics to be avoided.6. Know the purpose of the fightFinally, lets discuss the fights purpose and why youve chosen to write one in the first place. Before we do this, however, ask yourself this very important question: Am I throwing in a fight just to make the book exciting? If your answer to that question is yes, youd be better off thinking of other ways to ramp up the tension in your book. Sometimes a simple, menacing conversation between the antagonist and protagonist is all it takes to create conflict and tension. If your fights sole purpose is to build tension rather than the other tips Ive covered, it could very well be a distraction that doesnt do anything for your plot building and should be avoided.A fight is the perfect moment to reveal important things about your characters and create reader excitement, especially in interesting settings. However, its also a literal representation of conflict, and should be used with the utmost caution if you want your book to be a bestseller that readers cant put down. A fight for the sake of a fight gets old fastâ€"give your readers more in your fight scenes and theyll turn out better than you ever expected they could.

The Attitude of Andy Warhol Essay Example For Students

The Attitude of Andy Warhol Essay Warhol introduced society to a new kind of art that is now being agonized as real art, he pushed to boundaries and so called standards to the traditional ways. Whorls first major display of pushing the boundaries was in 1948 at an art show given by the Pittsburgh Associated Artists his painting that he submitted was titled The Broad Gave Me My Face but Can Pick My Own Nose, one judge thought it was excellent and another thought it was vulgar and coarse. It hung in the Direct section hut drew a huge crowd of admiring students. From that he felt that he was ready to take on the art scene in New York. Whorls approach to the modern way of art was mass production of everyday items. He was very successful as a commercial artist but was not considered a Dread artist, Andy wanted his art to look impersonal and mechanical. He discovered the use to silkscreen and how it produced slight mistakes and unevenness in his repetitive style of art. He produced his most famous pieces of art after he found silkscreen, he was on an inspirational high. He produced the Campbell Soup Can series in 1962 and the more famous prints of Marilyn Monroe in 1964. To expand Ands finances, Fred Hughes encouraged him to concentrate on his paintings. Ands Swiss dealer, Bruno Fishmonger, thought Andy should Anita series on a world leader for an exhibit at his gallery. He suggested Albert Einstein. Andy thought that Chairman Mao, the dictator of China, would be a better choice. Ive been reading so much about Chinaware only picture they ever have is Of Mao Sedona. Its great. It looks like a p. 117 price of pop) Bruno insisted that on one, especially Americans, would but them, since Mao was a Widely hated communist. As usual Andy stuck to his instincts and set out to silkscreen a set of prints, line drawings, and paintings of the Chinese leader. Mao symbolized power over the lives Of billions Of people. Although. F Andy had lived in communist China during the Cultural Revelation, he most likely would have been imprisoned. Mao suppressed creativity, especially in the arts, But Andy felt sure that capitalist American collectors would find the images of Chairman Mao, both alien and familiar at the same time, irresistible, Based on the official photograph of Mao, the portraits were done in a freer brushstroke than previous paintings, with a looser background to color over which the image was printed, guy adding lines around the face for emphasis, Warhol tried to make Mao as glamorous as his portraits to Marilyn. He also reduced a series of Mao wallpaper similar to the Cow Wallpaper at Galleria Lean Assonated, Paris in 1365. Warhol emphasized the hand-painted part of his work, stressed the brush stoke at the cost of the printing technique, by partially integrating oil painting into his silkscreen pictures and played down the mechanical effect. But the subject of this series of portraits was taken from the official photograph print of the almighty Para leader, which hung on every Chinese wall. But the studies differ from one another in color as well as in compositions and the selection of detail. By means of a lighter colored aground and the contrast Of colors generates a kind Of halo.

Nstp Narrative Report Essay Example

Nstp Narrative Report Essay NARRATIVE REPORT Being able to help is a privilege for us students for it teaches us how to become concerned to those who are in need, it helps us to understand the spirit of compassion and to share what we have to and abolish the selfishness hidden deep within us. Last July 15, 2012, our NSTP class went to Huspicio de San Jose to conduct a visit to the special children housed in the said orphanage. We hired a jeepney and we rode it going to Huspicio where the children are waiting for us. We brought prizes and candies for and we prepared games for them to enjoy. We also organized a program and prepared snacks for the special children. We all helped for the success of the aid event. The program started with a prayer, thanking God’s graces and for us arriving to the site safely. And then, an opening remark was made and the caregivers in Huspicio introduced each of the children, with their personal background such as their names, ages and the sickness and mental disorder that they are encountering. They also shared to us that most of the children are very talented: they can sing and some can even dance very well. We also conducted an exercise to warm up our muscles for the long day. The excitement grew when the game proper has started. The first game is a guessing game. Each contestant should correctly guess the name of the fruit in the picture shown to them. We can see to the children’s eyes their enthusiasm to answer every picture, and their smiles tell that they are enjoying the game. During the event, I took care of Mayang, a special child in Huspicio whose disorder is cerebral palsy. Her real name is Maria, but her close friends as well as the caregivers chose to call her Mayang as her pet name. She’s a very sweet kid, in fact, she loves to hug and cuddle my arms and hands. She looks so cute every time she smiles. A very jolly person, she likes to dance and she’s indeed very good in it. We enjoyed each other’s company, especially when we joined the games that the class has prepared. We laughed and cheered every time she wins a game, and we danced with the music playing in the background. When I look at Mayang, it seems that she’s a normal kid just like everybody else. Yes, maybe she’s a disabled person but still, she’s like us, like me. She has feelings just like the all of us, and wants to enjoy life just like everybody else. I enjoyed being with Mayang, I started to care for her like she’s my own younger sister. She’s a blessing from God and she deserved to be loved and cared for. We ate snacks together with the children, and shared memories that will be forever seared in our memories. W bade farewell to each one of them, promising that we will meet again soon. I kissed Mayang’s forehead, and she gently squeezed my hands, our fingers interlocked. This’ll be a temporary good-bye for the both of us. I’m looking forward to our next visit in Huspicio de San Jose. This activity made me realize many things, things that made a great impact to my life. It is indeed my first time to encounter these kind of people, yet, I already felt love and concern for them. They made me realize how lucky and blessed I am. Thanks to NSTP, I had a chance to share my time to these children. I hope that our next visit will be as fruitful as this.

Gandhi

Gandhi The movie Gandhi starts off with the assassination of Gandhi in 1948. After he is shot, the movie immediately flashes back to Gandhi in the late 1800's. Gandhi began his work against the injustices of the British Empire when he was a young man in South Africa. He was a lawyer and he fought against ethnic discrimination for Indians. South Africa was controlled by the British at this time and Indian's were there working. Gandhi helps them to gain their independence through nonviolence and respect for others. Gandhi was thrown off a train, traveling across South Africa, because he had refused to give up his first class seat and move to the third class, where the British man wanted him to go. Shortly after, Gandhi organized his first protest in which he burned passes that Indians were required to carry at all times in South Africa. He then protested again with nonviolence against laws that singled out Indians as second class citizens that had few rights.Nehru and Gandhi at the opening of the Indian Nati...Justice and human rights was a strong theme in this portion of the movie. Gandhi saw the people were not treated fairly so he fought for justice. By burning the passes he fought out in a non violent manner, proving that people needed to be treated fairly. The British were taking advantage of the people in South Africa, and their peaceful protest gained their human rights. Even when the British were clubbing Gandhi, he still persisted in burning his pass, and this showed how he put his importance as a person under that of basic human rights.Gandhi was effective in South Africa, and his success caused him to return to India where he could work the independence of India. On the second day of the movie, Gandhi was let out of jail...

Social Exchange Theory - Communication Theories Essay

Social Exchange Theory - Communication Theories - Essay Example This implies that actions are taken with full knowledge that it would be recognized and reciprocated. Based on the social exchange theory our organization decided to outsource a small part of the work to an external service provider. Ours is in the hospitality sector and we selected a small service provider expecting that we would receive personalized service. This was also the reason that we did not approach one of the recognized firms. However, the communication was not effective. While we wanted to save costs we ended up paying much more as we did not receive the promised services. We had to discontinue with this agent. The evaluation of the service provider is important before signing any contract. In the future we would seek details of the businesses handled and the types of service offered. We did not receive the benefits expected; social exchange was unjust. In the hospitality sector, service excellence counts. The organization recognizes that to deliver excellent service the internal customers have to be focused upon. It is a reciprocal arrangement – the organization focuses on meeting the needs of the employees and the employees deliver service excellence which in turn benefits the organization. To meet this organizational objective, the organization valued their internal customers and provided motivation through different means. The organization was successful in achieving their objective because the employees felt needed and recognized. This served to motivate them and they could deliver their best to the external customers. The employees and the organization, both gained in the process. This example explains the costs and rewards in the relationship, which is the essence of the social exchange theory. On another occasion I needed a day off to attend my ailing brother but was denied the day off. A colleague of mind stood by my side and requested the supervisor to grant me leave. He would extend his working hours and complete my part of the sch eduled task. In exchange he asked for something which relieved me of the obligation while benefitting both of us. He wanted a particular item from the downtown area where I lived and which would cost him the entire day to get it. He would have to take leave instead. Hence, if I could do him this favor, it would save him a day off and the journey downtown which was very far from his place of residence. This example of social exchange involves voluntary actions of individuals motivated by the returns expected. I readily agreed because there was no question of indebtedness or owing to each other involved. Thus in the social exchange two parties are involved and work towards mutual trust, benefit and enhancing relationships. This also forms the basis of how social structures are created. Relational Dialectics Theory Relational dialectics suggests that people in relationships constantly feel the push-and-pull of conflicting desires. These conflicting desires include autonomy and connecti on, openness and protectiveness, and novelty and predictability. Through effective communication they attempt to reconcile these conflicting desires but they continue to have the need for both the opposing pairs. These conflicts, tensions or dialectics cause relationships to be

European spatial planning report Research Paper

European spatial planning report - Research Paper Example Identified aspects of the European background for spatial planning and expansion that are definite will be utilized to analyze matters of the report. There is an intense global perspective to spatial planning (Dühr et al. 2010). European incorporation enhances interconnections, growth and administrative across countrywide and regional borders (Hahn 2014). EU strategies in aspects such as surroundings, agriculture, transport, or regional strategy have extensive effects on spatial growth patterns and planning measures. The report concludes with assessment and recommendations that can assist the selected UK territory authority execute roles adequately (O’brien and Sykes 2013; Sykes 2011b). LED is a creation that is geared to promote development in suitable regions. The policy of LEP is about supporting economic development through enterprise zones and local enterprise partnerships. By considering LEP of various regions it is possible to advise the UK territorial authority in matters that affect development of some regions. LEP has challenges of social, economical and environmental capacity. However, different regions have dealt with these challenges in different ways. Local enterprise partnerships are affiliations between businesses and local authorities (Great Britain and Bailey 2010). They make a decision what the priorities must be for investment in infrastructures, buildings and amenities in the area. They are a means regions can develop without overdependence on federal or central governments. LEPs were provided the opportunity to apply to have a venture or project (investment) zone and 24 were offered. These regions can take benefit of tax incentives and easy lo cal planning policy (O’brien and Sykes 2013). They can have a key responsibility in this changeover or evolution both in terms of their responsibility in strategic economic planning, for example in investing in the essential infrastructure

Sustainable Technologies For A Green World Environmental Sciences Essay

Sustainable Technologies For A Green World Environmental Sciences Essay The word green designates more than a color. It is a way of life, one that is becoming more and more common throughout the world. The reason for this is green technology helps to sustain life on earth. This not only applies to humans but to plants, animals, and the rest of the ecosystem. This is why throughout the world it is typical to see windmills for air quality or solar panel rooftops for heat control/energy solution. While these are the most typical green technologies available, there are still others that help to protect life on this planet. This article focuses on particular green technologies that are in the works. The technologies are determined to find more innovative methods for keeping the ecosystem alive and active. To make these goals clear, this article tells what each technology is and how it achieves green goals. For now, the technologies are works-in-progress, but it is still important to know what benefits the planet will reap from these in the future. The first of these green technologies is plastic. Decomposable and inexpensive plastic is made into goods such as toys, farming supplies, and construction supplies. After usage, these are often sent to a landfill/digester, and the subsequent methane will be returned to the microbial course. These biodegradable and bio-based plastics will be in high demand due to growing government rules on plastics, a desire to reduce dependence on oil, and consumer preferences for green products. The process starts with methane, a potent global warming gas that is frequently considered waste, which is amply accessible and normally manufactured as a byproduct at waste treatment and agricultural facilities. A second technology involves showering, which represents a huge portion of water and energy use in many houses, so users are happy to access water at a low cost. Fortunately, the innovative shower system can reduce water, energy use, and cost by 70 percent without reducing flow at the showerhead or time spent in the shower. A portable and affordable solar and wind device can be made available to cook, heat, and generate power. It is suitable for city housing and environmentally sensitive for national parks and other natural areas. Buildings are also depending on green technology, especially because of shortcomings with more traditional technology. Expanded polystyrene is one of these traditional types, an insulation material used in buildings. Because this is not sustainable, more companies are applying green insulation as a healthy, affordable, and effective replacement. One of the reasons why green insulation is effective is because of the technology and raw material it requires. It often involves a revolutionary new manufacturing process that uses a growing organism algae or mushroom root fibers to turn waste cellulose into a rigid biological resin. It can also be allowed by flexible platform used to make sustainable materials for different products. Of particular importance to buildings is that green insulations have a significantly better CO2 balance than its competitors, with a low energy footprint and the capacity to bind significantly more CO2 than other fibers. The insulation stores CO2 long-term while cutting buildings energy use. Of particular note is its use for the farming of cattails (a global resource nobody is using up to now). In the biomass, CO2 is stored in large quantities, so even cattail cultivation saves CO2 as degraded wetlands. Additionally, it saves costs, oil, and the health of individuals living in insulated houses. Another frontier technology is computer technology. A small black box can be designed for enhancing and monitoring energy use. It can serve as a router for a Local Energy Network in the neighborhood. A particle board can be made from natural wood which will not contain any formaldehyde. The product has several notable incentives in green technology. It eliminates CO2 emissions by offering farmers an alternative to the customary burning while growing their revenue. The boards do not add to deforestation/water pollution, take little energy to create. They can be recycled in floors, ceilings, and walls. Manufactured from renewable plants and algae (and later, up-cycled into biodiesel), they are sequesters of greenhouse gases. The lubricants non-toxicity aids community welfare and decreases businesses liability. They can be used in most industries that use heavy industrial equipment to meet sustainability goals, reduce liabilities, decrease petroleum use, or support domestic products. The used hydraulic fluids will be up-cycled into bio-diesel with the assistance of bio-refining business associates so that they, too, can displace petroleum and increase the use of renewable products. The influence of non-toxic and recyclable lubricant would mean that personnel in industry who have direct contact with industrial lubricants without being exposed to the cancer-causing toxins found in conventional lubricants. Finally, the low-cost, carbon-neutral technologies comprise green coke, activated carbon, bio-char, and graphite. Its customizable process could slash emissions by replacing fossil carbon in industry, decreasing emissions from organic waste decomposition, and offering companies products made from local materials. These carbon-neutral technologies substitute fossil carbon in current value chains. By using clean energy and bio-fuels, the emissions can be abridged by enabling businesses and publics to create low-carbon cradle-to-cradle resource cycles anywhere in the world. This would enable individuals and industries to considerably decrease carbon emissions and other environmental pollutants, regardless of their opinions about climate change and worldwide reserve exhaustion. Conclusion Motivated by environmental missions, the additional worth to agricultural residues is vital. The aim for these residues is to reduce CO2 emissions, save trees, cultivate forests for the next generation, and alleviate poverty in rural farm communities. Measures are being taken to ensure the technologies are up to standards and are benign for the wellness of its end users, workers, and communities that use them. The solar devices, green insulation, and other items discussed in this article all point to hopeful road for the future of earth. Without their developments, the planet risks intense pollution and overuse of toxic wastes that could kill human and natural life on the planet. It must be noted, however, that these technologies are still in the development stage, which makes it necessary for the planets green goals to be achieved because those who take care of the planet are, in return, taking care of themselves. This respect for nature will encourage users to protect their environ ment and themselves at the same time.

Essay --

The current effects of immigration throughout the United States has had a negative impact on its economy. Whether foreigners are legal permanent immigrants or illegal occupants, nations must diligently keep track of all individuals. This is a brief analysis on how immigrants impact the U.S and strategies to minimize their effects on this nation. In addition, the U.S must implement and monitor plans of action to lessen unemployment of citizens and reduce the excessive use of benefits and resources by immigrants. The negative impact immigration has on the U.S Economy Immigration has a significant negative impact on the U.S economy. Consequently, amplifying the work demand between the early 80's thru the end of the 90's, immigration diminished the median, yearly net income of a native born citizen of the United States roughly $1,700. Among those born on U.S. soil, who didn't possess a high school diploma, approximately the most indigent ten percent of all workers, the assessed consequence was even greater, causing a reduction in pay by nearly 8 percent. The disadvantageous effects on United States endemic African-American and Latin laborers are somewhat greater than on Caucasians, due to the fact that a much bigger percentage of non-majority ethnic groups are in point-blank rivalry with non-citizens. The lower rate of pay happens irrespective of whether they are documented or undocumented aliens. It's the existence of extra employees that brings about a reduction in pay, not their legitimacy (Davidson, 2006). Many United States citizens are unemployed and should not have to compete with immigrants in order to support themselves or their families. For example, Pedro Chan, a foreigner from Guatemala, illegally came to the U.S in 2... ...legal, including minors. Foreign juveniles, particularly asylum-seeking persons, have been delayed in immigration detainment facilities between 2 to 12 months (Line & Poon, 2013). The Ends Justifies the Means The United States is a wonderful place for opportunities, but it should be first and foremost available and accountable to it's citizens. U.S. benefits and services should be allocated only to American-born citizens with the exception of life or death emergencies. Educational benefits/subsidies should be exclusively for our American-born children and college-seeking citizens. Furthermore, there must be a cohesive strategy in place to minimize the amount of legal permanent residents as well as stopping illegal immigration. Lastly, the United States must learn from their past mistakes and acquire knowledge from other nations on how best to deal with immigrants!

Mozart Was Born Into A Society Where Nobility Ruled, And

Mozart was born into a society where nobility ruled, and the noblemen had the privileges and freedom that came with such a title. Consequently, Mozart learned at a young age that to become a sough after musician meant playing to the dignitary’s hand. As a result, Mozart quickly found favor in Vienna and across Europe, which led to many successful Opera Buffas. Many see Mozart as the turning point in opera with his most famous Opera Buffas, Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Cosi fan tutte. â€Å"Comedy gave him full scope, and in Figaro he had the advantage of a libretto which was already a famous product of consummate stagecraft before it ever became and opera†¦while Beaumarchais’s Mariage de Figaro has its place in literature, Mozart’s†¦show more content†¦CHAPTER 1 Background of the Creators Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Mozart was born in Salzburg on January 27, 1756, to Leopold Mozart and Anna Maria Mozart. He was the seventh of seven children. Wolfgang and his sister Maria (the fourth of seven children) were the only children that survived. Mozart’s father, Leopold was a musician who oversaw Mozart and his sister’s education. He took Wolfgang and Maria on his many traveling tours and introduced them to this wide circle of friends and acquaintances, some of which were Salzburg nobility and the archbishop. Mozart is known for being a musical prodigy, learning to play the piano at age four and composing his first piece at five in 1761. In 1761 Leopold took his son on tour and had his first public performance at Salzburg University. He went on to play for many noted figures in Munich and Vienna in 1762. The tour in Vienna was a great success and when the family returned to Salzburg in 1763 Leopold was promoted to deputy Kapellmeister.
